Sammy presenting her brainstorming ideas to the group.

Day1

Day1 started with the 3rd phase of the project with CIID faculty greeting us after a long vacation inertia. The idea was to introduce the deliverables for the next 2 weeks.

Key Questions to help proceed with this phase.
Open Lectures scheduled for the next 2 weeks.

Day2

Conversation with Andrew Nip

  • One of the best things that you could do when you are stuck in a creative hole is to look for fresh eyes.
  • I presented him with all the research, interviews, field trips, insights, HMWs, concept directions, and the lo-fi prototypes that I have so far.
  • Learnings:

a). My HMWs are too broad and they need to narrowed down to get more focus in the prototyping stage.

“HMW enable small coffee farmers to distinguish themselves among aggressive global competition by creating a unique identity of their coffee?”

b). Every feature in the prototype should have a purpose, it should be connected to an insight.

c). Build a step-by-step journey showcasing many prototypes and their eventual journey mentioning which areas I left and which I continued with.

d). Technology should be there to help, not there to distract people. I wonder about all the products that are designed for distraction.

e). Drawing a Service Map of the actual process at this point in time will help inform where the prototypes will go in the future.

f). Don’t get too trapped in your head too much.

Conversation with my advisor Manu Dixit

a). I jumped the gun with making lo-fi GUI prototypes and I need to get my story right and concept chalked out before getting to prototyping.

b). Portable Molecular Analysis: One of interactions involve being able to check the quality of the coffee cherry using a mobile. After knowing SCiO, it doesn’t seem to be quite far away. :D

Day3

Brainstorming Session:

Time: 34 mins approx

a). 10 mins: Showing the video, explaining the insights, introducing HMW.

b). 8 mins: Round1 of Crazy 8 for Part 1 of HMW.

c). 2 mins each: Explaining their ideas.

d). 2 mins: Voting among all with 3 votes each.

e). Repeat b,c,d for Part 2 of HMW.

Fun Fact

There is a fruit that is widely available in Central America by the name ‘Noni’ which tastes like Blue Cheese. Wonder these things will keep becoming more common as move away from animal products.

Noni.
