Final Project: Research (Day 6–10)
Morning
I didn’t do much during the morning. My day pretty much started at 1 pm.
Afternoon
Spent a lot of time researching about what sustainability means.
The rise of the young, conscious consumer
Sustainability?
Sustainability is the ability to exist constantly. Sustainable development may be viewed as paradoxical (i.e., development is inherently unsustainable).
Despite the increased popularity of the use of the term “sustainability,” the possibility that human societies will achieve environmental sustainability has been, and continues to be, questioned — in light of environmental degradation, climate change, overconsumption, population growth and societies’ pursuit of unlimited economic growth in a closed system.

Understanding sustainable development is important but without clear targets it remains an unfocused term like “liberty” or “justice”.[44] It has also been described as a “dialogue of values that challenge the sociology of development”.
Evening
Day 7
Morning
I visited the institute del cafe, Costa Rica. It is the official institute of Costa Rica which is the central body for coffee research and regulation in the country.
I was able to see the experimental farms working on identifying rusts faster, raised beds, different varieties, and most interestingly was surprised to a really tall Robusta tree (interestingly Robusta plantation is illegal in CR).
